BATCHTRAK...
IT'S SIMPLE!

BatchTrak is easy for systems administrators and users to use.

Until recently, MFG/PRO® users wanting batch control or print spooling, had no option but to buy special utilities, or operating system specific software tools.

Installation and implementation of these options was sometimes problematic since MFG/PRO® users (while inside MFG/PRO®) cannot easily gain access to utilities which are not tightly integrated with MFG/PRO®.

BatchTrak solves these issues.

Do you want to:

Control which reports are run on-line and which are batched?

Setup date, time and frequency batch jobs are processed?

Setup batch job dependencies in single or multi-database environments?

Easily manage and prioritize your print and batch queues?

Review a print job on screen prior to printing?

Print any number of copies of a report without running it again?

Print only the pages of a report that you want?

Receive email notification on batch job completion or failure?

Specify if a batch schedule should be skipped for holidays?

Manage the batch server system load by host?

Perform any or all of the above from within MFG/PRO®?

BatchTrak is the answer.

BatchTrak

BatchTrak extends the batch processing functionality of MFG/PRO® and eliminates the need for manual or operating system job start-up processes such as "cron." The BatchTrak scheduler automatically controls the starting, stopping, and processing of multiple batch queues.

BatchTrak also allows job dependencies to be established. For example, an invoice post batch job can be setup to be dependent on an invoice print batch job. Additionally, there are powerful date functions allowing for the management of dynamic date criteria when submitting jobs to permanent batch queues.

BatchTrak also has a print spooler which extends the printing functionality of QAD Enterprise Applications ( MFG/PRO ) so you and your system administrators can have more control over what is printed, how many copies are printed, and when they are printed.

BatchTrak Features

Batch Server:

The batch server automatically controls the starting, stopping, and processing of multiple batch queues without the need for manual, or operating system job start-up processes such as "cron". The batch server can execute multiple jobs and queues in parallel.

Batch Queue Regulation:

For many systems, it is appropriate to restrict certain reports from running on-line, or from running in certain batch queues. Batch queue regulation allows administrators to specify which reports must be run in which batches. Regulation prevents long-run jobs from impacting the performance of the system during busy times. Regulation stops users from putting jobs into the wrong queues for example, users can be prevented from submitting an MRP run to the monthly accounts reporting batch queue.

Job Dependency:

Many reports and processes must be executed in a certain sequence, because one or more jobs are dependent on the prior successful completion of others. Now, you can use BatchTrak to establish multiple levels of dependency for jobs; ensuring they are sequenced and executed correctly. Job dependencies can even be established across multiple databases in multi-database environments.

Automatic Date and Period Changes:

Changing date and period selection criteria is one of the biggest challenges associated with the execution of periodic reports and processes. Use BatchTrak to write a formula (for each date or period selection criteria) that will be evaluated and calculated at the execution of a periodic report or process.

The formula may include simple expressions such as "Monday of the week", "first day of the month", and "today". BatchTrak evaluates and calculates this formula using the "run date". Users and system administrators can write more complex expressions to meet more sophisticated requirements.

Job Monitoring:

BatchTrak's system-wide monitoring tools will tell you what jobs and batch processes are running throughout your MFG/PRO® system. Users can monitor the progress of individual jobs, get updates on the progress of jobs, and when appropriate, cancel jobs. Email options are also available for automatic notification of job success or failure.

Printer Spooling:

Using BatchTrak, users can specify at run-time whether a report should be spooled, to allow review prior to physical printing. This means a job only needs to be run once, then the results can be reviewed on-screen, copied to a file, or printed. Users can optionally view or print only selected pages of a report. Spooler regulation features allow administrators to specify which users or groups have access to a given spooler. This is enforced at job submission time and when viewing spool files.
